HELPFUL HINTS !!!!!

Farmers Almanac - Helpful Hints:

"Unwanted Bumper Sticker? To remove unwanted bumper stickers, rub with cigarette lighter fluid.

Knots? Shake a little talcum powder or cornstarch on knotted cords or shoelaces and knots will pull apart rather easily?

Campers/hikers, heres a tip: Along with dry matches, pack lint from the clothes dryer into a small plastic pill bottle. It ignites quickly and can make kindling for several fires.

No dustpan? Cut a used and cleaned foil pie pan in half. Works wonders.

To clean stains on a carpet: mix equal parts of vinegar, lemon juice and salt. It works!

Make as few trips to the store as possible. Each trip to the store means more opportunities to buy something unnecessary"

SOMETHING TO MAKE YOU GIGGLE!!!

FOR THOSE in the Ya-Ya Sisterhood:

1. If you love something, set it free. If it comes back, it will always be yours. If it doesn't come back, it was never yours to begin with. But, if it just sits in your living room, messes up your stuff, eats your food, uses your telephone, takes your money, and doesn't appear to realize that you had set it free....... You either married it or gave birth to it.

2. Reason to smile: Every 7 minutes of every day, someone in an aerobics class pulls a hamstring.

3. They keep telling us to get in touch with our bodies. Mine isn't all that communicative but I heard from it the other day after I said, "Body, how'd you like to go to the six o'clock class in vigorous toning?" Clear as a bell my body said, "Listen fatty....do it and die."

4. My mind not only wanders, it sometimes leaves completely.

5. The best way to forget all your troubles is to wear tight shoes.

6. The nice part about living in a small town: When you don't know what you're doing, someone else always does.

7. Just when I was getting used to yesterday, along came today.

8. Amazing! ! You hang something in your closet for a while and it shrinks two sizes!

9. Sometimes I think I understand everything, then I regain consciousness.

10.. I read this article that said the typical symptoms of stress are eating too much, impulse buying, and driving too fast. Are they kidding? That's my idea of a perfect day.

HELPFUL HINTS !!!

Farmers Almanac - Helpful Hints:

Entertaining Tip. At buffet parties fill paper nut-cups with dip so guests can have individual servings on their plates.

Bored Kids? Make your own fun. Place some food coloring in a spray bottle filled with water. Then give a few different colors to kids so they can paint the snow.

Ring stuck? Use window cleaner spray to remove a ring that is stuck on your finger. Spray will also make your ring sparkle.

Planting for fragrance? Try planting the following: Carnations, Pinks, Mignonettes, Lavender, Fragrant Nicotiana, Violas, Ornamental Basil, Rosemary, Sweet William, English Wallflower

Save your lawn. To minimize damage to your lawn, mix sand, dirt, or kitty litter with salt when putting it on your walks and driveway.

Plant for Butterflies. To attract butterflies to your garden, plant lots of colorful flowers. Butterflies seem to be especially attracted to purple, yellow, orange, and red. Keep the colors growing all season by growing different varieties that bloom at different times."

Lyrics to 'You Were There':

Early Sunday morning
I step outside my door,
The wind is blowing through my hair

It's been a little while
Since I last saw you, Jesus
Please show me a clue,
You're still there.

CHORUS
---------
I can feel you in my heart
I can hear you in my mind
And I can see you through my eyes
You were there all the time.

WHAT IS TODAY??

Believe it or not today is Adopt A Cat Day!! Thats right it is a perfect day to adopt a cat and there are many who need homes. So whether you already have one or don't open up your home to one of these little furballs. I miss my Lydia, she was beautiful and I had to give her up because of moving where she wasn't allowed. I pray someday I will be able to have a cat & dog soon. If I can figure out how to upload pics to here I will show a pic of her.

POETRY ANYONE???

God's Garden of Poetry and Sunshine: "Sunflowers and Roses

Come live in our garden
and know the good life
We bask in the sunlight
and survive any strife
Our arms reach up to the heavens,
our faces are kissed by the sun
We bloom separate among us
but in God we are one
We're all sunflowers and roses
of a remarkable height
Growing steadfast and strong
in the direction of His light"

Does flying make you queasy? Try eating foods high in carbohydrates before boarding. One study suggests these types of foods help prevent airsickness.

All-purpose ice pack. Try freezing a wet paper towel in a resealable plastic bag. Use it as a mini-ice pack to keep food cool. Once melted, it will also double as a wipe for hands and faces after meals.

Can't open your kitchen drawer? A kitchen drawer stuffed with boxed wrapping materials neednt defy opening. Turn the boxes a quarter turn so the tops nudge each other. Now the drawer works smoothly again"

WHAT IS THE FULL MOON OF JUNE NAMED?

Farmers Almanac - Full Moon Names: "Full Strawberry Moon - June This name was universal to every Algonquin tribe. However, in Europe they called it the Rose Moon. Also because the relatively short season for harvesting strawberries comes each year during the month of June . . . so the full Moon that occurs during that month was christened for the strawberry!"

GOOD OLD DAYS? OR NOT?

Farmers Almanac - Yesteryear: "

Originally published in the 1967 Farmers Almanac

Always call them Mother and Father,or Dad.

Always introduce people to your mother. No matter how important the other person is, begin: Mother, I'd like you to know.

When your parents introduce you to their friends, make them proud. Stand up for an introduction, and acknowledge it with the friends name: How do you do, Mrs. Carter.Don't sit down, while either your mother or Mrs. Carter is still standing.
If your parents friends ask questions, even though they seem a little foolish, answer. Never say, I dunno or just giggle. Admittedly, You've grown so, haven't you? is silly; but it becomes sensible conversation if you answer, Yes, I'm nearly two inches taller than I was last year.

If your dad tells a story involving you and gets some of the facts wrong; let it go. Setting him straight in front of an audience just sounds quarrelsome and childish.

Let your mother precede you into a train or bus, or down a theater aisle. In these places, walk ahead of your father.

Treat your mother like a lady and your father like a gentleman, and you can't help impressing the world with your own charm and poise.

Times Have Certainly Changed!"

HELPFUL HINTS

Farmers' Almanac:

"Whatis the best way to store fresh strawberries?
Leave the green caps on, and dont wash them right away.
Store your fresh-picked berries in a container with a dry paper towel on the bottom.
Separate berries by placing a paper towel between layers.
Refrigerate immediately. Warm temperatures can cause a browning effect in strawberries.
Use refrigerated berries within 2 to 5 days after buying or picking them.
Wash the berries right before using them, with stems/caps still on. Use a gentle spray of cool water.
To remove the green cap, use the plastic tip of a vegetable peeler or a paring knife tip. Be careful not to remove any of the fruit.
For the best flavor, allow the strawberries to reach room temperature before serving."

POETRY FOR THOSE WHO LIKE

God's Garden of Poetry and Sunshine: "Wings of Love

Of all the gifts that loving can bring
The greatest, by far, is the gift of wings
Empowered only with hope and uncertain belief
We embark on a journey that will know no relief
Flying onward and upward through all that we meet
Our wings broken and battered as we lay at God's feet
His voice speaks and enfolds us in a gentle tone
'Rest quietly now, my child, for you are home'."
